Just curious what other owners are getting
Is 350-400 on a tank around the town acceptable?
Trip computer shows average mpg from 44000 miles 30.5mpg
What are your figures?

What is the average speed ?

400 miles on 80 litres...isn't very good. That's only 22.73mpg.

Exactly
There something wrong with my car for sure
Need to go back to MB

My dad's S320 CDI does about 22-23 mpg in town - I don't think it's anything to worry about. These diesel V6's are not very economical in town tbh - we had a 280 CDI previously and that would return 25-26 mpg town.

My dad uses his car for town driving and half a tank returns about 220-240 miles so full tank equates to roughly 480 miles (max). On the long run it happily returns 35mpg + and this car has been thoroughly attended to, with full MBSH (until now - serviced by Mercland). The previous owner even had the advisories carried out by MB - e.g seat lubrication at £200!

I wouldn't bother much tbh if you are getting 400 + miles on a full tank in town. But 300 miles does seem a low. Maybe do a brim-to-brim check and get some accurate figures?

Ok
I did 372 miles, just filled it up 82ltr
From that 372 did 200 miles on motorway
Average 20.5mpg
And MB says everything is ok with my car
I'm loosing my mind here
Went on quick run on motorway just now cruise control at 60mph, reseted trip and couldn't get more then 36mpg
I'm sure my last black S class with that speed achieved 45mpg
Its a diesel and costs me On fuel as my last v8
Also it still smokes on warm up.Today literally cars were slowing down behind me to avoid the cloud
Tomorrow will revisit MB and then back to dealership I bought it, warranty claim
I'll start to use public transport

372 miles is low considering 200 were done on a long run. What's your stable engine temperature?

Above 80, think as it should
Had it on Star with my specialist and MB dealer no faults whatsoever

Just checked oil level its risen above max
Had it changed last week wends and we left it just below max
I'm sure diesel is pissing through rings to the oil
Checked coolant , level is perfect

This seems to be a bit more technical. MB will charge crazy money to diagnose a problem, they did to me although I and they exactly knew what the problem was.

Unless you are happy with MB, I would personally go ahead with MB specialist - they save time and money.

My cls GE has done an average of 31mpg over the last 17000 mile average speed around 37mph. I have an 80ltr tank and usually put in 74-76litres.I am getting anything from 470-550miles from a tank on average.

I complained to MB about my old w211 320cdi sport only doing 30mpg on average runs, and they said there was nothing wrong and it would get better with age, load of old crock, it stayed the same. My B200 cdi sport only did and average of 38, which is one of the reasons I changed to the cls as the 7mpg drop, seemed worth it for the extra power and the style

Today on a way to work 3miles trip I averaged 26.3mpg and no smoke behind me versus yesterday smoke and 16mpg - that is in town
I'm sure its over fuelling for some reason and dpf is being forced to regen as of amount of diesel its getting,on warm up .... But not every day

Merc called me, they found a blockage in MAF sensor, cleared that, car was still smoking
Checked everything else w and all ok
They decided to do compression test manually :-0 and they snapped a glow plug WTF ?!
Why wouldn't they do that through Star first?
Also I haven't received a phone call asking for permission
********

Which colour is the smoke?
