W221 Command Firmware Update

I am thinking to Update my 2008 W221 S-class command and Navigation system. My friend has 2012 Navigation dvd, which I tried on my car and it doesn't work, I think the reason is old command system software.

my question is does anybody update the 2008 command system to newer system? does it worth spending £200+ ?

The only reason I want to update is for new navigation system which take full post code and show the address. Mine take half of the post code and then you need to input the street name yourself.

any suggestion please?

Was the 2012 navigation DVD for your NTG3 COMAND or was it for a facelift (NTG3.5)?

Do you have the "3D" or "Bird's eye view" option for navigation? If yes, then I believe no COMAND firmware update is needed to load current (or 2012) maps.

It has 3 Options , North Up, Heading Up, and Birs's eye view. which is 3D view I guess.

If no comand update is needed, then why he has ( Next services on the motorway option, also his petrol station icons are very visible by logo etc ).

Could you first confirm the Comand model "he" has. Is his car a facelift W221? The point is that you cannot get the NTG 3.5 options with a SW update to the NTG 3 COMAND.

His car is 2012 S class which is facelift. Mine is old shape 2008.

That explains why the two cars have different features. Almost like the new W222 being different from your friend's facelift W221.

I have a 2006 S500 and have just upgraded to 2014 disc. Just pop down to MB dealer with reg No. and Vin they will order you a new disc at £99 in vat. Pop in into the slot follow instruction an wait 30 mins. Easy peasey.

Did you just upgrade maps or comand aswell?

Does it change the look in maps?
