Basically, 'yes' to your 3 questions on the diagram.
Regarding the WIS search, I did the following:
1) Enter WIS.
2) In the VIN field, I entered WDB 221179 - This specifies a S65, use the first 6 digits of your VIN if it is different.
3) In the large left hand pane of the Determine Search Criteria, I ticked box 82.10 Exterior Lights.
4) In the smaller right hand pane, I ticked the box for Circuit Diagrams, and then ticked the box for Electrical (pe).
5) Click 'Start Search'. You get a list of around 20 docs mostly titled 'Electrical Function Schematic' towards the bottom are 3 rows titled 'Exterior lights wiring diagram', PE82.10 - P2000saa/b/c.
...sac is rear lights, ...sab is right headlamp, ...saa is left headlamp.
Lots of other useful docs will be shown if you expand the tree in the left hand pane, a useful doc is OV00.01-P-1901SAA 'Search diagram for all wiring diagram groups' which is an index to all model 221 wiring diagrams.
Don't know where I got the yellow/blue and grey/orange from in last nights post - I know it was from reading the small display in WIS, its always better to print these diagrams to see the full data.
PS, you may have to check the Uxxx sections on the diagram, these reflect various options e.g. lhd v rhd.
PPS, I connected a similar style of controller box to my CLK280 a couple of years ago when I fitted Probright TDRLs - a combined drl and indicator. I used the CLK equivalent diagram and Scotchlok'd the drl dimmer sensor wire to my sidelight lead. Still working 2 1/2 years on.
