Hi All,
I can't remove my wheel bolts!! 17mm socket doesn't fit properly (nor does anything else is my socket set).

I managed to get one off with a 17mm socket but not comfortable forcing the socket on the others bolts as it's clearly not the right thing to use.

Anyone come across this before? Is there a special socket to be used on these? It's on a 07 plate.

Thanks.

Looks like 17mm is the correct socket size according to the alloywheels direct website.
Copied below are the W221 bolt dimensions.

Bolt Pack 3: Rust Resistant Bolts

Set of 20 bolts (5 per wheel for 4 wheels). RAD part number: 4227. Surface coating: Geomet 321+VL. Shaft Length/mm: 27. Thread pitch: M14x1.5. Drive type: 17mm. Seat type: 14mm radius. Fitment: Mercedes 230/211/219/163/164/169/245 221/216/251

6 sided 17mm works fine, there is a direct fit "special socket" available on ebay.

Took it to parts dept at local stealer to see if they had special removal tool.
A tech came out to have a look. Said no special tool required just 17 mm socket is fine.
But said someone has gunned them on/off a few too many times (instead of properly torquing them on) and now heads are deformed.

Best solution is to replace the bolts.
