Hi all. So was wondering why I couldn't get spray from the rear washer.

I checked the water reservoir and noticed it filled with some thick green slimey fluid.

Took it out, washed it. Cleaned it put it back.

Then tried the rear spray again. After a few attempts I heard water / spray noise in the cabin.

Checked the boot passenger compartment noticed water. So I Removed the passenger boot lining and noticed the fluid gushing out.

They have used a ribbed pipe, which seems to have sprung a leak.

How do I fix it without having to replace the entire pipe?

Two part epoxy adhesive.
Hey Thanks for the response. Is that the only way?

Would one of those inline connectors not work with heat shrink tubing over the outside? - presume not because it's ribbed.

Being ribbedit may be hard to get an in-line to get a seal. (Plus aggro of finding the exact correct diameter) a smear of glue should seal it. Ensure it’s all dry before glueing, maybe rough area lightly to help adhesion with a bit of sandpaper.

I would cut out the damage section and fit a replacement, with a silicone self-amalgamating tape between the old and the new surfaces, and a cable tie over it.
Alternatively, providing it is a straight section and is not moving, use some of the two-components plumber's glue compounds.

You'd need to run a thorough disinfection routine for the entire screenwash system, and stick to a single brand / type from then on.
I'll WhatsApp you the details.

Personally I use Mercedes branded WinterFit (and my remaining stash of SummerFit, which I was told by MB Northampton is no longer available to order).

What is inside diameter of the pipe? Would a connection for a non ribbed pipe be suitable which has tapered ends to ease fitment, Halfords would be possible supplier but any car accessory shop can supply these.

If yes I would cut pipe and gently heat the pipe before inserting the join, belt and braces put a tie wrap on both ends.

Just because everyone loves a good picture.. . Or two. . .

Looks like it was previously repaired, as the pipe is different (the short bit above the damage point).

I would still cut it out and repair properly - you don't want to re-visit the problem couple of years down the line.

PS Might be a good point to fit a one-way valve.

I noticed that. But didn't pay too much attention after I took that pic. Do you think it's all moving around inside? Or it's been pinched?

self amalgamating tape is the business... but you could cut as others have said and put in a plastic t piece and coat with self amalgamating tape.. job done! :thumb:

an easy enough repair..
