W246 Change KPH to outside temp om UK model car - anyone managed a recode ?

Hi All,

I took delivery of a B180 CDI Sport on monday and am very happy with it apart from the pointless KPH display in top right on instrument display, the manual states it cant be changed on UK model but given european models can have outside temp and there is a much larger option for speed in kph or mph I think its pointless. Anyone managed a recode ?

The dealers people all say it cannot be changed.

I soon found that having the large central display showing my speed (whether MPH or KPH) works fine and I can ignore the smaller rather useless display. It's got to the point where if it does not show the speed in the large display I have to hunt around to find which button to press to bring it back. The car does change its mind occasionally, but mostly it stays where I want it, even over restarts etc.

Thanks RTaylor. I've since found a million and one posts on the forms now explaining the situation (search "KPH"). I've read Alfie at comand.co.uk can set it to show miles or outside temp using his special STAR computer. I'm not going to bother seeing as my W246 is on contract hire.

Interesting Comand are saying they can now, was about a year ago I asked, might just get it done as miss seeing the outside temp, I tend to use the 'From Start' screen as I prefer the look of it and info over the std mileage and temp display

What would be really kewl would be to have a user defined display that you could fustomize to your exact needs. If they can do it on a Garmin Bike Computer I am sure MB could do it too

Not sure where we said we could do it on a W246. As far as im aware we cant. Its the pre facelifted W245/W169 we can plus some others of course but not the W246.
