I own a 2015 Mercedes Benz B200 CDI. For the past month I have had an error disabling traction control and other electronic aids. Xentry revealed an error in the steering wheel sensor.

Initially this error occurred only when parked in the sun (ambient temperature ~35* C. Now it happens almost every time I drive.

My mechanic says this is a common problem with the W246. The part is quite expensive at INR 64,000/-. Is there anyway to repair the part or can I import the part for cheaper from elsewhere?

Steering angle sensor, part of the 'clock spring' assembly. I don't think it's repairable. Replace the assembly at about £50-£100 and 30 min job

I am unable to procure it at that price. The column needs to be changed apparently and It's about 640 pounds.

The steering wheel angle sensor is indeed easy to replace. There's no need for the steering column to come off, only the steering wheel itself needs to be removed. Unless your mechanic found another fault while inspecting the car.

He has not yet seen my car for this issue. The part to be replaced is this one. Screenshot 2025-04-06 at 9.07.34 PM.png

There's no need to replace the entire hub with the stalks. The actual part you need looks like this:

Can you advise where I can purchase this part sir? Mercedes India only sells the whole assembly.

I tried cleaning the sensor and refitting it. But the problem persists. I have to look at procuring it new. Used part will have the same issue as it is a common problem in the B class. New replacements are not having the issue.

It is quite expensive in India, I am searching other markets where I can import the sensor cheaply. Any leads are appreciated.

Have you recalibrated it and done the yaw sensors at the same time.
