I am awaiting delivery of my 119 Sport Crew van, coming from a car with dab and sat nav looking to get this in the van, but don't really fancy the Becker unit (s/h of course as £500 from MB is ridiculous) as looks a bit old hat. Question I am struggling to get a straight answer to is if I go down the aftermarket HU route will the factory fitted rear camera still work. I see you had this showing on the Audio 15 picture, does it still work with the Pioneer HU you have installed.

I am thinking about the Pioneer Avic-F980 and had seen this as the installation kit Connects2 Ltd but having spoken to Connects 2 they advise I would loose the reverse camera functionality and they do not have a lead that would allow the camera to function. Presume this has to do with the way the camera sends its signal

Tbh I made the same move as you last august and thought I'd miss all the stuff I had but in reality I just haven't :dk: yes I got the Becker which works well but other than that it plays Spotify over Bluetooth or plugged in radio works and the satnav takes me where I need to go :D if someone shows something shiny that works and is easy to get fitted I'll be tempted because it's shiny :bannana: but other than that I've been so impressed with the van it's unreal

Cheers Sparkyy. Pleased you are impressed. Had a few wobbles about swapping to a van whilst waiting on delivery. Too late to go back now as being built next week. We have three boys and have just sold our old XC90 which was a fantastic car that saw us well for the 5 yrs we had it but at 11yrs old was waiting for the big bill that perhaps may have never come. I am getting rid of my Skoda Scout for the van and putting it through my business as we still need something big for holidays and weekend adventures. Tried the T6 but felt the Vito was less utilitarian for the 25k miles I do a year. Specced it right up, just a shame cannot get factory DAB. I know I will miss not having the DAB so will sort a solution for this. As you say the Audio 15 is pretty decent and Spotify etc worked well on the demo I borrowed for a weekend . If an aftermarket HU solution is simple and integrates fully then will go for it, but if it involves £100's in aftermarket leads on top of the £550 for a HU then will not happen.

Nope not missed DAB at all either but then I stick to radio 1 or radio 2 and Spotify, we've got 3 kids and as a family car the vito has been absolutely superb bikes and dog in the back kids have loads of room and it's comfortable over big distances. I lied there are a couple of things I miss
1. Sunglasses holder (schoolboy error I didn't know you could get one when ordering)
2. Keyless the amount of times the key is still in my pocket while I look for the start button
3. Electric close boot just a nice to have but I do reach for the button that's not there
That's it really so not exactly hardships but little things I'd become accustomed to and all massively outweighed by the tax relief :)

i had to have a new camera and the usb and aux also had to be redirected which is a shame but liveable :-)

Thanks for reply, thought that was going to be the case having spoken to a few installers. Will hang fire until an integrated solution is available. Such a shame you cannot upgrade the audio, you can change just about everything else. Getting excited now, spoke to dealer today due with them 28th all being well.

ALpine XD800U

The best retrofit out there for W447 Vito/metris (fits perfect no gaps) not cheap though!

https://www.alpine.co.uk/p/Products/SingleView/X800D-V447

Fakra leads and accessories required to retain original camera/usb port etc
leads are d.i.y. or hard to find in the U.K.

pros awesome looking bit of kit
cons expensive ,bluetooth hands free not anywhere near as good compared to original (i.m.h.o ,why i never went this route this time) since they stopped using parrot chipset.
would set you back £2k+

The Alpine 447 unit is without question the best non Mercedes system that instegrates with the exisitng controls/wiring.

It needednt cost £2k either. It can be installed for less :thumb:

Cheers, KoFidee I have a sneaky suspicion you may be my secret helper. Have you been chatting to Sophie at Northside this afternoon on this subject.

Had seen the Alpine X800 and as lovely as it might be not prepared to stump up that sort of cash.Had hoped the Pioneer F980 with the necessary leads would have been the solution at about £700. Having paid to have the integrated reverse camera/park assist not prepared to loose this functionality. Lesson learnt for next time.

I am after a DAB solution which at present looks like I will go with the Alpine Ezi-Dab, not the new GO VERSION. Sat nav, really cannot decide whether to go down the Becker route. I travel around and whilst we have a decent TOM TOM, I like the integrated solution as it means i am not taking it on and off the windscreen outside my appointments every
time. The Becker just looks a bit dated compared to what I have had in a BMW and my Skoda but perhaps I am doing it a dis-service having not used it. Given the time I spend driving around will no doubt want to upgrade the speakers also...does the crew van just come with 2 in the front or are their two in the back/passenger area. Again not looking for audiophile quality just something reasonable, presume a component set up in the front would be best, how easy is this to do. If there are no speakers in the back can these be installed into the standard Audio 15 HU.

I see it cheaper now around £1k>£1200 for HU which now includes Antenna and can interface (was all extra when I fitted to my W639)steering interface was crap lost lots of functions luckily they brought out a updated version which fixed this issue
do all the leads plug and play with the Audio 15 latest version which has all Fakra blue green purple connections apart from the quad lock?

Thanks for popping to Northside today and allowing Sophie to pick your brains. What DAB solution did you go for, how simple was it to install. I like the integration direct into the HU. Photos Sophie sent me don't show the tweeters for the front components, where did you locate them? Thanks Paul

Exciting signed the paperwork today, van should have been with the dealer yesterday but sat at the port awaiting transportation. Should be ready next week as not expected till Friday now and needs the leather fitting. Probably going to wait till the week after till the schools are off as promised my lads they can come with me to collect. Think they are more excited about getting a van than I am.
