My W639 has been in under warranty umpteen times because of a issue with
binding squealing brakes (neighing MB commercials called it)

apparently it has occurred in the group network (Yorkshire region) a few times
pads changed pins to mb protocol to no avail

binds when cornering reversing even with no brakes applied

annoying!:wall bash:
anyone else in other areas experienced this shed some light?

Binding: If the pads and pins are new, has anyone checked to see if the pistons are retracting properly?

Are the correct width discs fitted? What axle/wheel(s) is it on? If it is only on one wheel, is the calliper mounting bracket bent slightly?

The fact that it is doing when reversing and cornering would suggest something is moving when it shouldn't, perhaps.

Pad squeal on the Vito is common, I believe…….mine squealed for about 1000 miles from new then cleared up.

mine squealed from day one
then eased off for awhile but came back with vengeance
it is booked in again next week 6th visit for this problem
might get the Citan demonstrator again as a courtesy van (was not impressed with it)

seen the sports 111cdi is now in show room wonder if i could try that

Are the brakes squealing or binding?

If the latter, I can only think of what I have mentioned already. If they are only squealing, spread a very thin layer copperslip on the back of the pads being careful not to get any on the pad surfaces.

As for the Citan, that would account for why I am seeing year old versions for £8k (at dealerships). Clearly it isn't stacking up against the Transit Connect and such like.
