Please help. Have an issue where am driving along after the engine is warm and car just cuts out completely. Lose all power, and car switches of. have tried everything from new ecu, throttle body, cps, magnets....am at my wits end....no codes showing on launch...ocassionally a code for communication to transmission comes up...and some gremlin codes for cps ...any advice would be appreciated...am £2500 into this now and need it to work.

getting code p 0272...could this be an injection issue? cam sensors and magnets are new...come on guys...help

Mine used to shut down on acceleration which was apparently due to "excessive boost". Turned out to be a leak in the air intake pipe. Is yours an engine safety issue? There are sites that list the fault codes.

thanks for that, petrol doesn't have a boost issue...should have mentioned...is petrol 3.5 m272 engine...

Yup with hindsight it would have been good to put that in the title - the M272 is commonplace in many other Mercs., and you'd probably have got more responses. The vast majority of W639s are diesels. Hope you get it sorted!

I'd suggest you start a new thread and in its title include engine is petrol and 'cutting out'.
'Failure' implies it went bang.

I saw someone in your other topic suggest balance shaft, but that doesn't look like the right code to me, plus most 2008 engines won't be affected by that (I have the same engine so know a little about that).

Honestly, I would just take it to a respected mercedes independent garage and get the codes read using STAR, and they can then tell you exactly what the issue is. It sounds like so far a mechanic is guessing and just replacing parts...

check gasket where air filters slides into air flow meter if they split it will give you lots of faults codes too, i suggest compression test and remove solenoids (no the magnets themself) smaller ones and when you rotate crank to 305 degree position it will shove you marks in the middle of inspection holes for solenoids if stamps are not in the middle you will have to replace the chain or dependent on year( 2005-06) check possibly replace balance shaft which require removing engine itself
