W639 Viano 3.5 v6 petrol M272 2008 engine cutting out

Please help. Have an issue where am driving along after the engine is warm and car just cuts out completely. Lose all power,if i feather the throttle it will catch again. have tried everything from new ecu, throttle body, cps, magnets....am at my wits end....only code showing is P0272...any advice would be appreciated...am £2500 into this now and need it to work.

Sounds like a balance shaft issue . I had it with that engine on my 2005 CLS .

Bad news I’m afraid these engines within a certain range were prone to it and it’s an expensive fix!!

Hi Buddy if you want i can have a look and tell you what is the problem I rebuild over 30 pieces of 272 engines and over 500 merc engines currently driving one at the moment it was rebuild by myself 4 years ago let me know if You interested and we can take it from there

not that expensive i recon its get much more expensive when you send car to someone whos not familiar with mb engines and swapping random stuff and not fixing issues

thanks for the input so far, am getting codes p0060 and code p0271 now . was getting a misfire on cylinder 4 and 6. changed the injectors...so that it doesnt misfire now but still cuts out when engine is warm....engine number is too new for the balance shaft issues 272978 30 850996....anybody else have ideas?

try to smoke test if theres leak in intake manifold engine cut out. also turn crank to 305 degree mark and check positions of stamps on pulse wheels small solenoids no the magnets! remove them theres 4 of them and you should see stamp in the middle of the hole

thanks mb petroleum, done that now and all 4 line up, even removed the front cam covers to check the timing marks and they all line up too...was checking for stretched timing chain....they are fine too....what now???
