Here are a few pics of the underside of my Viano as viewed from the left looking under the sidebar/sill.

This is intended to show the Eberspacher auxiliary heater to help Zenman research a retrofit, if you need others don't hesitate to ask - I believe the unit has the mini exhaust pipe you can see in one of the pics, I have started from the front of the van and finished by looking rearwards.

Just the job Thanks for that, rear air con makes it an easy job, mine just has rubber tube links where the pump fits.
There is a kit of parts to fit this A639 834 0120.

I realise the Eberspacher auxiliary heater, well heats, but does anyone know of an auxiliary system that would provide aircon?

The aux heating works in tandem with the Thermotronic climate control - the manual suggests setting a temp for the vehicle and opening up the air vents.

I imagine in hot weather the best you could get is the ability to switch on the climate control which would only blow air around. No cooling function as you say.

I expect there is a solution in hot countries, maybe in Australia?

One time I read that in the Scandinivian countries, the aux heating remote control can be controlled via a device that will switch it on/off via text message. In fact I am pretty sure I saw this on ebay.de once, but I couldn't understand the auction as my German is hopeless.
