Does anyone know where I might be able to obtain a good secondhand 5-speed manual gearbox for a 190E 2.5-16V?
I have been quoted £375 for a gox from a 2.3 litre Cosworth but I'm not sure if it's suitable... Has seen 60k miles apparently. Does anyone know if they were the same?

might wanna try ebay, few cars being broken on there atm or take a look over at mercedes190.co.uk

Hi Blackmored - welcome to the forum :)

I'd be very surprised if the 60k miles on that breaker's box were genuine - there's very few actual cars about with even double that mileage. Doesn't really matter I guess so long as the box is in good order.

What's the problem with your existing unit? Can it not be repaired/reconditioned?

Without knowing what the symptoms are, I'd just add that you do realise that there's a number of problems that could seem like a gearbox issue and might be because of a more basic fault - eg clutch or gear linkages/adjustment for example.

Is the box in yours the dog-leg? i.e. with 1st left and back; cos I think that's the box fitted to Cossies.

Yes, all manual 2.3-16/2.5-16 and Evolution models had the Getrag gearbox with the 'dog leg' shift pattern.

Mmmm. Nice. I had one on the 320TE W124. Cracking box once you get used to it.

Being that the OP hasn't visited the forum for nearly a year , i'd say he has either found one or lost interest.

hi i might have one for a 2.3 let me check!!!!!
