Hi All,

finally managed to register after the forum thinking i was spam for a while!! Not literally obviously, well I hope not.

Ok so been lurking in the background for Months reading up on CLK55's and lately E55's, so i have finally after 20 years of Merc ownership ranging from a mint R107 (wish I had never sold that) to my current C350 2013 Estate (I think it must be around 10 so far) I have decided to take the AMG plunge.

There is a method to this that involves me not doing so many miles these days and a S3 Lotus Esprit Turbo that I am having rebuilt from the ground up which I haven't (sorry forgot) to tell the wife about!! but that is a long and going to be complicated story!

Anyway so what I am after should any of you wish to consider selling or know of a car is either a CLK55 Cab W209 or an E55K W211 preferably facelift with FSH (specialist is fine) but in great condition but if needs a little work to make mint then I have no problem with that.

I have cash waiting and I am prepared to travel. I am in Kent but have already been to Birmingham and Bradford to look at cars and maybe off to Inverness end of next week (although I am in Glasgow with work so that might be considered cheating)

Anyway even if nothing comes of this I will keep looking but much better if I can find a car form a member for the record this forum has been invaluable up till now so thank to you all

I look forward to seeing you in the other part of the forums when I purchase the car

KR
Danny

Welcome to the forum Dan.
Good luck with your search. Do try and get a drive in both cars before you decide. Similar running costs but quite a big difference in power delivery.

Hey thank you,

I have driven both I love the Clk but the E55 is a monster and better for the family I just need to stop being sensible my c350 in the real world is probably the ideal car but I fancy a mid life crisis.

Looks like two E55K estates will be on the market shortly from forum members selling.

I love an estate I keep looking at the c55 estate on auto car but I can't decide I think E55 is way forward!

AMgeed

thanks for this that looks like a great buy I am after a saloon really as the E estate won't fit in my garage annoyingly I measured it this morning. I think I have decided E55k is the way forward unless an amazing CLK turned up.

If any of you hear of one going please let me know I am in no rush and will pay the right money for the right car

Thank in advance

What is your budget Danny? I'll keep an eye open if I see anything.

Hi can you Pm me please as I don't have enough posts yet.

Thank you this is much appreciated

i thought about this and there doesn't seem to be much harm advertising this.

So happy to go to say 14k for the right car but it would need to be pretty mint happy to pay less and spend the cash making it that way.

Would be much happier buying it from someone on here to be honest. Really want a facelift if possible

As I say happy to travel for the right car

Cheers Danny

Really want a facelift if possible

There is no such thing as a facelift E55K as that is an E63 from 2006.

You can only get one with midterm revisions which came Summer 2004.

Look for one with an 805 build, fine mesh grille above the centre air vents and a 200mph speedo if that is what you are after.

I came within a gnats **** of selling mine in the last week but I decided against it - such fantastic cars, I definitely would have regretted it.

John,

sorry got my knickers in a twist, thats what i meant the 2004 facelift, I don't want a 63 and they are too much money anyway.

Shame I do like your car and your not I guess a million miles from me. Out of interest have you ever seen a palladium silver one? They really seem to be either black or silver.

As I say happy to wait, have a car and a Vito so not stressed about when one comes up.

Cheers

Danny

63 is a completely different animal and one which doesn't really interest me now I know more about the different kinds of engines and how they behave.

I prefer forced induction!

Yes, I am based in Kent too.

I don't think Palladium Silver was out then.

As you say, silver (Brilliant) and black (Obsidian) are the usual colours although I do like Obsidian. Not keen on silver myself.

I've seen a couple of other Tektite E55Ks before so they aren't very common.

We had a member with a Tenorite E63 before but not sure you could get Tenorite on E55Ks or not. I'm sure I've seen Tenorite cooking models so probably.

Good luck with the search.

Are you after a standard one or a modified one?

Would like standard if poss but open to modified suggestions as long as they have been done by reputable companies.

I think you must be right on the colours, just seems odd they are pretty much black or silver though.

You are going to be very fortunate to find an E55 in any other colour than Brilliant Silver or Obsidian Black. Only a handful of other colours have been seen including one fantastic Designo Mystic Blue that I just missed out on when looking for mine. I ended up with silver which wasn't first choice, but I quite like it now.

Black or silver is fine to be honest, would love to see a dark blue with cream that would look amazing. I think pretty much every car I have owned in the last 20 years has been silver or met grey, in fact bar the GTI years I can't think of one...... Actually no met blue 3500 SDi Vitesse that was the last one should have kept that to.

Has there ever been a thread, "I should have kept that" might be fun with pictures

Right back to E55 search

The reason I ask is that Ricky_s on here was toying with selling his (black one) but it is a 55 or 06 plate with quite extensive modifications.

Don't recall seeing one in the 5 years I've been on here - good idea!

I have one car I should have kept because the car I then bought was a disappointment. I have one other car which I really regretted selling because of the car itself (1997 M3 Evo):

I will have a look in the members section see if I can see his car. I have to say I love the colour of your car never seen one that colour.

I will start that thread a bit later got to get the roast beef on!!

Mine would be Series 1 Elise, 205 GTI 1900, but the one I really shouldn't have let go was the R107 300sl I truly kick myself especially as it was the only car I have ever made money on it was that mint it would be worth late 20's now maybe 30k , I will dig out a picture later it was black with grey stunning

Quite a lot of people comment on the colour of mine. It's pretty unusual.

I thought it was black when I saw it in the adverts (see my avatar) but when I got there, I realised it was black.

I was disappointed at first but then the more I looked at it, the more I loved it.

It doesn't seem like Ricky S has a gallery - I can see you already looked.

I have his email address worse-case so I can drop him a line if you want.

The only thing I can find is this video - and I can see he has a different whiner pulley, wheels and air intakes on there:
