Hi

I am looking for the chrome strip that runs along the bottom edge of the w126 SEC bootlid, and around the corners above the rear lights. 3 peices.

Must be A1 condition.

I'm not allowed to use PMs yet, so please email [email protected]

Thanks

John

From memory corners are under £20 each new from the main dealer.

Boot lid trim around £150.

If you find a decent used set (unlikely) they'll be close enough in price to simply go and buy new ones.

Is the SEC bootlid different from a W126 saloon bootlid?

I think it is, they really shared very few external parts, if any. However, the boot lid trim may be one of the few exceptions.

The bootlid panel is certainly different, but the bottom profile - along the top of the lights - looks as though it might be the same. If the SEC and SEL share the same rear lights [can anybody confirm?] that would lead me to believe that adjacent bodywork would have the same profile and hence the SEC chrome strip would fit my saloon.

But that's by no means certain of course. Hence, I'm hoping to try it with cheaper used parts - at least until I know if it fits!

Yup, they share the lights and the chrome trim fits fine, although the bootlid is indeed different. I'm about to fit to my saloon. Got the chrome from US ebay but i was lucky and it wasnt too expensive. Apparently i'm told it does get snapped up quickly if it appears on ebay. I think there are a couple of SECs being broken on there at the moment tho, it may be worth asking the sellers if they have these bits. Ian.

Good, thanks. Can you post a photo of yours please? Once I've seen how yours looks I might splash out on new parts!

Lose the V8 badge, that's a bit tacky IMHO.
