Washed the car as usual last weekend - proper hard work and takes me a few hours.

Any way, that was fine and the car was gleaming.

Today I parked under a tree when I went shopping and came back to find the roof and drivers side covered in bird sh*t! Filthy flying rats!

So, got my squirt bottles out from the boot (which I keep for just this reason) - one with water mixed with car shampoo, and one with clean water. Blasted the 'lumps' off and rinsed what I could before I ran out of water. I never expected to need so much!

A long 120mile drive home dried what was left on like cement!

So, I got my watering can out and filled it with warm (not hot, but warmer than bath water) and poured it over the car. Several of these later and the car is not only bird sh*t free but any hint of dirt and dust which has got on the car during the week has completely gone. The car looks as clean as when I'd just washed it last week.

Never thought a warm water rinse would clean the car so effectively. And because the car wasn't completely filthy, the water filmed off and I didn't need to towel dry it :)

I usually aim to wash th ecar once every 2-3 weeks, but I will be doing this once a week in future to keep the car as clean as I can between washes.

I generally use detailing spray (Meg's Last Touch) to remove bird mess. If it has dried on I soak kitchen towel in warm water and leave on the mess for a few minutes to soften before carefully wiping away. Then finish with Last Touch.

This was a LOT of bird sh*t. Two litres of water/soap mix in the sprayer I keep in the boot didn't clean it off - I wouldn't want to waste detailer in those kinds of quantity.

Agree though for small patches. I keep meaning to get some, but never get round to it.

For that amount I'd wait to get home and do a proper wash.

And avoid parking under trees!!

Unfortunately it was pitch black when I got home so a full wash was not easy. Nor was it my first choice LOL

Bloody trees. I never even thought about it at the time. Will in future though. We live just out of reach of a number of the canopy of a number of massive trees and the birds never hit the car. I thought we'd have. Big problem with it when we moved in.
