Hi, this is my first post. I have been reading other posts and hope that I get the same helpful responses as other members, I think the info your all giving is great.

I have just purchased a C220 cdi coupe 53 reg, all seemed fine until the car started to run as if the injection no longer worked? (I beleive that this is Safe/limp mode to protect the engine and gear box). This happpens 5-10 minute into a journey. The day after I started to get a warning message on the dash telling me to check coolant. I have done this and there is obvious signs around the coolant cap of leakagedue to pressure and it is extremely hot. But the coolant level is fine.

I have taken it into a garage (the car is still with them). They have conected it to the computer but found no faults to date, although they say they can not access the gear box on their system. (I think the STAR computer will be needed for this). He has replaced the thermostat as the one in there wasnt a MB issue but this hasnt sorted out the problem. There is no dis-colour to the oil.:dk:

all thoughts from you guys will be greatly appreciated :)

Did it overheat?

It was gettig hot but when it did I stopped driving it. I have since replaced the thermostat and now the radiator fill cap. This has stopped the radiator fluid from leaking and is holding pressure even when driven BUT the car still goes into safe mode and won't deliver more than 3000rpm. I have had it hooked up to a computer at the garage before I made the replacements but no error codes were found. I'm having another check done tomorrow. I've no idea what it could be now??

Sorry, I waffle alot.... It no longer over heats since the replacments but still reverts to safe mode 5-10 mins into driving
