I’ve read threads on here about this before so is it a known issue with certain models, garages, components…….?? My 17 plate e220d had discs and pads changed all round at selling dealers expense due to violent wheel juddering under braking at high speeds. Now it’s started again after a couple of thousand miles!! I know my first point of call should be the dealership but I wanted to know what people on here thought.
If they won’t sort it would it flag up on MB’s system if I decided to sell it to another dealership??
I am that unhappy with it.

Are you suggesting off loading the car to another dealer without telling them about the known fault?

I woukd suggest of he did this, he would be perfectly entitled (as a layman in vehicle braking issues) to declare to the buying Mercedes dealership the exact fault that the investigating dealershit informs the OP of during their fault finding. Would that be discharging duty sufficiently?

Otherwise it's the OP speculating and guessing about an issue.

Alternatively, the only way to get to the bottom of this is to crack on with proper run out testing of hubs and discs, disc thickness, via a specialist that actually knows what they are doing (and this is probably close to zero Merc dealerships)

I have a specialist local to me but I’m not sure how confident I am in them. They have already seen it for the same issue the first time but didn’t fill me with confidence and tried to tell me that MB would charge me £120 just to put it on the ramp even though he knew it was under warranty. Seemed like he was just after the business. I may be wrong but that’s the impression I got.

Only if they won’t sort the problem. I’d never sell it privately like that but I won’t have any qualms about selling it to a dealer. Apologies if you find that wrong.
Why is it OK to not reveal faults to a dealer?

People complain about dealers not preparing care for sale properly but think it is perfectly OK to conceal faults when trading in. 🤔

As above a sticking caliper, and it could just be the flexible brake pipe supplying that caliper, both are easy fixed.

Let me clarify my viewpoint. I love this car but it has been mostly problematic. The selling dealership did not leave me feeling happy about MB due to delays, lack of honesty, trying to do a quick job rather than a proper job and that was all before the disc problems which they also tried to fob me off with. I know you will argue that I am happy to be less than honest with a dealer who has not had the chance to be the same with me but when I bought this car it had been through their preparation centre where the rear pads were changed but put on incorrectly!! All this leaves a bad taste in the mouth and when problems keep coming why should I be the one to lose out rather than a big dealership??

Covered under warranty ??

The dealership that initially sold and, seemingly, repaired it poorly are the ones to suffer the financial loss.

Why should any other Dealership pick up the problem and deal with it?

“reparation centre where the rear pads were changed but put on incorrectly!! “
Is it possible to fit the pads incorrectly?

Only thing i can think of is back to front perhaps

Apparently so. I was told they are "sided" and even marked which way to fit them but some doofus obviously can’t read.

Would you be happier if it was a dealership in the same group?? 😂

Yet it took several thousand miles to show!

Some years ago my wife's company car was a Peugeot 406 to which the dealer fitted new discs and pads at every service due to brake judder. It then went to a different dealer and the problem was solved for evermore.
It seems the first dealer had failed to clean/ remove any rust from the mating surface of the hub, the dic would then get pushed away from the hub as the rust expanded.
With many people these days using "hand" car washes where they spray your wheels with acid to clean them I wonder whether this could have an impact on this problem. Certainly many cars have very rusty disc centres and calipers, after 7 years mine are rust free but I don't use wheel cleaning acid

How long ago (time wise) were the brakes replaced ?

I would have thought that a main dealer repair would carry at least a 12 month warranty so fire the ball back into their court.
