Hi,

I'm thinking of taking out a warrenty for my M3 as I don't trust BMW, lol as when they go wrong they tend to go wrong big time.. so i've hurd, specially the M3's very expensive to run.

Just wondering what do you guys think of this company?

Click4Warranty - Providing used car and extended c

has anybody used them in the past?

Also what warrenty company do you recommend?

Thanks:thumb:

warrenty direct seem to be good, or try bmw one?

I havnt tried BMW yet as I know they will probably ask 800 or something really stupid for 12months,

warrenty direct don't list m3's.. I might go for the above and choose the 4-star warrenty. :)

Warranty Direct are good, they will cover and M3 for around £50 a month and they are around £50 a month after haggling for their top product which includes wear and tear.

There is not actually that much to go wrong on an M3, things that do go are....

SMG pump - usually the relay at £3 but can be the pump itself at £800, however always stock in breakers now for £200 and £100 to fit and about the worst that happens on these cars.

Rear springs snap. £80 each and can be fitted using a jack on your drive.

Rear trailing arm bushes - they are very soft and do go, looking at £200 to replace and need doing every 60k miles or so.

Front Control arms - these are made by Lemfroder and cost around £200 a side, the joint goes in them and they cost around £200 each and £200 to fit the pair.
If the steering wheel is slightly off centre they have gone, change in pairs. Expect it every 50-60k miles.

Apart from that they are bullet proof really, not saying I wouldn't have a warranty but I do think if anything goes wrong it is down to neglect and a warranty would wriggle out anyway.

Warranty direct replaced my rear trailing arm bushes and front wishbones for me when mine went at 67k miles.

Thanks for that buddy, deffo usful information there:thumb: do you have an M3?

Yeah, I plan to keep the car for a long time, it's on 40K atm everything is running as it should(fingers crossed), I've just bought a set of Eibach springs for it as I know at some point one will snap.. common on these cars..

I will probably go for them >> Click4Warranty - Providing used car and extended c << as they seem cheaper and will cover wear and tear as well..

The SMG clutch tend to go on them after 65-70K and I was told that's £1200 job... ouch:D

I have had a couple now, and an CSL which is also SMG only and was on the M-torque forum for the last 8 years or so, and in all that time I have only ever seen 2 or 3 people with failed SMG clutches.
The SMG pump did go occasionally, but very rare and not an issue like it was, I bought a spare pump off ebay for £120 and gave it away with the car.

I sold my last one last year, kept getting pulled over in it so had enough. But an awesome all round car and the only car I have ever missed.

Yeah the E46 M3's are great cars, you have to drive one to know what's it all about, I love mine, I can't imagin what a CSL would be like:rock:

I havnt been stoped yet, maybe it's because I'm driving it like a granny...I did get a few looks by the police though..

I'm going to take out a warrenty with them soon, Click4Warranty - Providing used car and extended c

thanks for the help/advice buddy:thumb:

Seriously give warrenty direct a call as they are very good by what i have seen with other people, the E55 wasnt listed but when called they did cover it, make sure you make them add all the "extras" in FOC.

Will do buddy, i'm going to give then a ring on monday and see what kind of deal they can offer me, :thumb:

I found Black Horse Warranty good when I needed to claim for suspension coils & fitting.

I found warranty direct to be the most expensive for my C55. No-one could touch Mercedes Tier 1 for price. They were almost half the next quote plus there would be no issues with claiming as the dealer would deal direct with them!

Thanks Olly, do they cover wear and tear items?

will give them a ring on monday too and see what they have to offer:thumb:

I don't think any warranty company does

The reverse for my GL! MB much more expensive than WD. Still went with MB for the reason you stated; lack of hassle.

Car will now, of course, be totally reliable.
