Hey guys
Your thoughts please
Bought 12 month full warranty from WD for my 2003 E320 cdi with 137k
Price to pay £135 per year or 4 quarterly payments of £33.75.
I opted for 4 quarterly payments to start with, and got 14 days to cancel if i change my mind.
I asked them just to confirm if car needs to have full service history, answer received NO. They asked me when car had last MOT and Service and exact mileage.

Your thoughts? Is it worth or waste of money. I am not going to claim for little bits and bobs if its goes wrong. Just worries are SBC pump, autobox and any other repairs over £1k.

They even told me that can take car to main dealer and they will cover max £200 per hour labour. All sound too good to be true

Everybody will have a story on this.

I found them to be as useful as an ashtray on a motorbike.

Every excuse known to man, and a few known only to superhuman was used in an effort to not pay out. Worse i found that several garages tried to shut the door on me when I mentioned their name.

Our local garage refuses point blank to deal with them insisting that if you want your car done then you have to deal with them at every iteration.

He said he would go bust spending all day on the phone to them (that was my experience)

The best bit was when WD called me and asked if I would like to renew their warranty that refused to pay out an a perfectly genuine claim because I had to have the work done (all receipts retained) without their explicit instruction. This despite their galling admission that their "phone system had been down" when I spent half the day calling them.

If they were on fire and I was full to the gunnels I would still not wee wee on them.

There. That's my opinion.

First - WD are the best in my experience, but they have different levels of cover- the more you pay, the more they cover (duuuuh!)

That seems remarkably cheap.

Second - they apply a sliding scale based on car age & mileage - yours would qualify for 50% only on parts.

Third - service & mot are essential when you make a claim.

Fourth - £200/hour for that premium? Sure - and all pigs are fully fed & ready for take off.

Fifth - "too good to be true?" - yes (unfortunately)

Only £135pa for that amount of cover - pigs wont take off for that, surely?

The Quotation i got is Major Care Lite
When will get documents through post will go through terms and list of parts which covered.

WD have some policy documents online....

Warranty & Extended Warranty Specialists - Warranty Direct Ltd

I don't see Lite in any of the documents, read VERY carefully and don't assume that when they refer to a part as included it is actually the part you, or any reasonable person would think it is. I have had to argue with them in the past and the latest episode saw the Ombudsman order them to pay out and that was on an Extracare policy. I am still waiting on the cheque for that one. Made for an interesting conversation when they called to renew !!

Looks like i will be canceling it, as reading what is covered will hardly go wrong

As the cover levels down the number of things covered also go down. They refuse to offer certain cover once the car has reached certain milestones. The higher cover levels get much more expensive too. On the SL500 the policy was worth having but on the S320 I have now just put the premium I would have paid into a separate bank account and will add to that if something significant comes up.
