A mate of mine has a 2002 C220Cdi which is now just over 3 years old. He bought it as an ex-demonstrator at about 6 months old.

The central locking failed on his fuel filler flap a couple of years ago resulting in a Mobilo life call out. They re-mounted the locking pin.

Same thing happened again about 1 year ago and local main dealer replaced the part under warranty.

Same thing happened again a few weeks ago, I believe the car was a few days off being 3 years old - another mobilo life call out!

Happened again today. He took it back to the main dealer who said sorry - out of warranty - we can't help you.

Any advice on how to proceed?

Ask for the dealership to submit and ESKU (goodwill) claim, should get somewhere.

just out of warranty by a few weeks would still mean you get 50% off dealership prices but what i would do is call mobilo life as it covers you for 30 years breakdown providing it was serviced by mb within the last 2 years, funny enough I had the same problem last year with my w203 (c-class), they came out and resolved my pin issue on the petrol tank

My pin on the petrol flap also sezied up within 6 months of taking delivery but I fixed it myself, made the adjustments and lubricated the pin... again another MB poor quality issue... Even though car is still under warranty I would do anything to avoid an unecessary visist to the stealers...

Doesn't that mean the replacement part may still be covered by its own 12-month warranty??
