Warranty runs out in a month

The warranty o my SLK320 runs out at the end of the month. The service indicator says that the next service isn't due for 3000 miles. I've been thinking it might be an idea to get it done early so that any faults will be done under the warranty - and I can get my MOT too. Any thoughts?

Also, does anyone know of a good dealer in the North West London area. I haven't had much luck with the ones I've used so far.

why not just take it in and ask them to fine warranty work on it before it runs out. Im sure they won't object at a possible goldmine. ;) :D

Or a crafty way would to invent an "imaginery" fault and let them put it on the star diagnostics - when they report back to u to say there is no fault then just ask them to give it the once over for any possible other defects or warranty wrk that may need doing as warranty is due to expire whilst the car is still up on the ramp.....

Don't forget to check the bodywork for rust - I had a boot lid replaced a month prior to the expiration of the waranty due to rust round the key hole.

Are you going to renew your warranty? Luckily I did, 'cause my roof failed a month later. Cost of repair was more than cost of warranty. Oddly, the renew quote from RAC (who underwite the policy) was more than book price for warranty at the dealership.

Mainman,if you take it in for service, thats exactly what you get -a service, they wont inspect every component on the car looking for faults to fix under warranty. If you had a fault on it you would have booked it in by now yes?If it aint broke, dont fix it.

I hadn't really considered extending the warranty, Simon. How much was it on yours and are there a lot of exclusions.

I asked at my dealer about warranty renewal when my 3 years were up in May. They wanted £450 for 12 months warranty in addition to 2 hours labour at £90+VAT to check the car over as it hadn't been purchased or serviced by them previously. At a cost of over £600, I decided that it wasn't worth it. Luckily, apart from my dodgy wiper, I haven't had any problems that would have meant claiming.
