Warranty - Upholstery ?

A type of "ribbon" has started to appear on both sides of the drivers seat, protruding from the sides where the stitching in the leather is....car purchased direct from Merc 5 months ago....4 years old last month...
Initial call to Merc dealer who says this is not covered under warranty....
Before I go in with the "jack-boots" on, would appreciate any feedback fromin any members with previous experience on anything similar.....

I suspect this will be put down to fair wear and tear on a four year old car. Now, if the car was a year old, or less, then I think you'd have cause to complain.
