So second month into extended warranty - car is now 3 years and nearly 2 months old...The A/C flashes up red 3 times - straight after collecting it from Mercedes on Monday after a Synter club session (wash, valet, top up fluids and pressures etc)

While suspecting Merc they did placate me and told me to pop in after Christmas - duly done today and after reading about maybe just a regas at this age - they came back with the compressor is cracked..but also noted no damage at all in the area so something has let go inside it..

Presuming its not cheap to replace, with labour & regas too, my excess I chose might just serve as reminder that these cars aren't cheap..and parts take a while sometimes - 3 weeks currently...backlog or not a part on the shelf me wonders!

Anyone had the same

At just 2 months over the original 3-year manufacturer’s warranty I’d perhaps explore what good will could perhaps be offered towards this issue?

Of course you’ve got an extended warranty (with excess to pay?) but even so, you’d not expect to have to replace something like an A/C compressor at just three years old?

Had the evaporator fail just out of warranty on an approved used 2011 c180. Cost to repair was quoted at over £1500 (dash out job), so after a bit of to and fro with MB UK, offered modest goodwill contribution. After a letter to the CEO in the UK, had the full cost covered... Good customer service meant I went ahead and replaced the car with another (approved used) MB sometime later.

Great result

Some after market info for a compressor under part no A002 230 31 11 but you would have to check its validity against your chassis no. Parts prices seem to vary posssibly because some are reconditioned units as opposed to new [ if your casing is cracked then an exchange unit might not be possible?] can you see a manufacturer label on your unit?
Compressor, Air conditioning, Control valve with number A 002 230 31 11 OEM for MERCEDES-BENZ

Leaving AMG dealer to it - excess is manageable if we are talking £1500!

Will explore goodwill on the excess nearer the date the part comes in...

Not visible I think as they said they had to remove some trim to see it and trim was in perfect Knick so they knew it was inside out damage...

They fail a lot, luckily mine was within warranty and was some sort of seal but the whole unit was replaced. Search for how many failures have been mentioned on the forum.
They should cover all of it for nowt. If it's not externally damaged then it should last longer than the warranty and as long as you have had regular services, regas when required etc.. you should push them to sort it FOC.

I just had mine done under warranty on a 2014/14 W212 E63... Basically same symptoms, and went into MB Beaconsfield. At first they said it won't be a warranty job, as a stone may have damaged it. They then inspected it, and said the warranty will cover it and it was replaced within a week... No stone damage. They did however charge me £120 for an aircon re-gas with dye back in April, which although related, they argued the toss that its a serviceable item. I did argue back, but in the end thought £120 was a better bill than £1500. Absolutely hate the service team in Beaconsfield, especially the AMG specialist, but then as long as the warranty covers it, i don't care!

Well warranty called upon again - in for new brakes pads on Friday first thing on front as calliper was binding on O/S front,,,, phone call a couple of hours later...can't free up the calliper...

£900 for a new one, but warranty will cover it sir...(minus excess of £250)...if you please keep the courtesy car until Monday as have to order the calliper...

Me thinks a phone call on Monday to see if the cost of the pads will be covered by them as the failed calliper led to them being heavily worn on that side...!!!
