Just bought a 19 plate cla200 and done the deal what included stargaurd but had few days and want to wash it....and rinse with dionised water.....would that be okay or would the dionised water strip the stargaurd from body work....
Any advice is much appriciated !

Deionised water is simply water with the ions removed, it’s no less gentle than normal water and isn’t corrosive in any way

Great stuff,thank you jbd;)

Deionised water is very aggressive but in the context of car cleaning shouldn't pose any problems. It's only in it's distribution and storage this aggressive nature causes issues, not least the contamination of the water itself by the ions it leaches from tanks, vessels and pipework

Hi again whitenemesis
I thought it was aggressive but did not want to say jbd was wrong
I know it is aggressive, but is it when its passed through dionisation vessels when pure water becomes aggressive..mmm i might look into that 1 bud..lol
.....anyway thanks again bud,i think i will use it to rinse car as my water really hard....575 parts per million and nice to just rinse and leave to dry naturally
Appreciate your input my friend

It’s not at all aggressive for washing a car. The issue with deionised water comes with immersion over a period of time. When I said it’s not corrosive in any way, I was speaking specifically about what you’re using it for. If you’re using it to rinse a car, the period of time that it is in contact isn’t sufficient to cause problems.

Unless you plan on submerging your car in a tank for a week, it’s not going to be damaging in any way. The idea is really to reduce the amount of time you’re in contact with the paint, as there shouldn’t be any water marks to polish out.

Pretty much what I said ...

Tears are very salty (even angel's tears ...) and will most definitely leave water spots on the paintwork.
Now, Unicorn urine, that's a completely different thing ....

Can I purchase that off eBay?
