Read post 6 and 9 of the thread http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/parts-maintenance/134346-e55-amg-ic-pump.html

I would check which pump you have first before ordering, see if it has a aluminium or plastic shroud as these have different electrical connectors. It should be the aluminium one but it depends if someone has already changed (trust me they will they don't last that long) if its the plastic one try the other guys from AVT as they have the 03 pump as an OEM.

Right just jack it up and had a quick check thro the inspection hole . By the looks its still original aluminium body all corroded and a no. A2205040740 although this could be the bracket part no. so Im right in thinking I can use the US supplier of ebay ?

That is the bracket part number :D

You should be fine but if you want to be extra carefull check the electrical connection is oval and not square, you should be able to feel it while still connected. If is has slightly curved edges and not square corners it will be a straight swap.

When you change it make sure you bleed the system with the return pipe clamped. If you need some guidance once you have the pump pm me and I can walk you through it.

Yeah it has slightly curved edges so I'll order one from that US site :thumb:

Hey Paul,

Would you mind posting the guide to bleeding after replacing the pump? Just want to make sure mine is properly bled!

Cheers!

When my electric recirculation pump failed (same motor as the one in the link to ebay, post #2) i dismantled it and fitted new brushes, that was a few years ago and its still working fine.

Update ....Fitted both pumps today secondary coolant and air pumps (thanks to savman help) Found that air pump was shot no life in it at all . The coolant pump was seized so fitted the new one then decided to have a look at freeing it up. I got it working by reverse polarity then positive till it was free .

All I need to do now is to clear the codes off and fingers X I will have solved 2 of the cars on going problems .

Next is to for my Indi to fit my SBC unit !

Hi,

Can someone confirm the following please;

If your car has an 03 pump already fitted then the AVT OEM pump from EBay is a direct fit?

I have a 55 plate CLS55 so am not sure what these would have been fitted with as standard. Reading the thread and associated threads from above then I am unsure whether to buy the 10 from the states or the AVT one, what's the best and worse case of buying either from a fitting perspective? Is the 10 superior to the 03 / AVT pump, if so in what way?

Thanks Jules.

Jules

Take a quick look at the pump see if it has a part silver cast aluminium or steel body where the inlet and outlet parts screw into, also remove the power connector and take a quick look at the shape. If it has a part silver body and curved connector then the AVT pump is not a straight swap although still very easy, you will need to rewire (buy there connector it will be easier) and although the inlet and outlet will fit to do the job properly unscrew the face off of each pump that contains the outlet and inlet and swap them.

I'm pretty sure you will find the Bosch 10 pump is the correct one for your car.

The Bosch 10 pump is slightly higher spec with a flow of 1400 litres per hour vs 1200 for the Bosch 03 AVT.

Update

Had my new Bosch 10 pump fitted. The pump removed was a Bosch 03. The car can now manage a few sustained bursts without cutting out the supercharger.

Jules.
