Hi,

I’ve noticed some water in the boot wheel well, and I’m not exactly sure where it could come from.

One quick question is - is this hole in the tyre tray empty like mine (I can see straight through to the road!), or is it plugged?

I spray under the car with a jet from time to time as it’s muddy here, so that could be one cause.

Any common causes of water there in the W212s?

Cheers!

Anyone?

Boring subject I know, but if anyone has had water in the boot, let me know!

Don't know about the W212, but my W211 has leaked water through one of the rear light seals in the past.
Another favourite is the 3rd brake light and the actual rubber seal around the perimeter of the boot.

It's not easy discovering the actual entry point, but some coloured paper towel spread inside the boot area and some pressurised water sprayed over the back might give some indication.

- Check air vents in boot
- check tail light and boot lip seals
Get into the trunk with a torch, have some pour water via a hose over and around trunk.
Best of Luck

Thanks! What are the boot air vents? I didn’t know it has any vents.

There’s a rubber bung in the floor which again, I don’t know what purpose it serves

Well, it’s a bung, so I guess it’s stopping water being drained away, because it’s blocking up a big hole?

Pictures of said ‘bung’ ;)
