Hi Folks,

My W202 C200 has been loosing water this last week. A quick inspection has shown a leak between the plastic header tank and metal radiator. I won't have time to replace it for a week or two so would like to patch it up for the meantime. I was thinking of using araldite or some other epoxy along the seam to do this. Any thoughts or other suggestions?

cheers,

Alias.

When I drained the the header tank and unclipped the cowl for the fan, I could see a 4" crack running along the length of the header tank. I dabbed a little bit of super glue along it in the hope that it wicks into the crack to give it some mechanical strength and then gave the whole area a good buttering of epoxy to seal it up. I'll let you know the results.

Those radiators are very simple to replace and take about 20-30 mins. (the time it will take you to glue it up) They are quite cheap too!

Super-glue (cyano-acrylate adhesive) is pretty-much useless for such a repair, as it is degraded by moisture and heat .
Araldite does not stick to many plastics (particularly PVC)
I agree with BlackC55.
The header tanks are easy to replace.
I would not risk an adhesive repair.
