2002 W203 C class sport coupe fitted with a Delphi watercooled 190Amp alternator. I have never heard of a watercooled alternator in a car. Must be terribly over engineered. Has anyone played with one? So, to my questions. Can it be disassembled to fit regulator/rectifiers and brushes and if it can where the heck do I get them from? Has anyone had experience of overhauling one? Or do you just put normal alternators back and plug the watercooling lines? Heckishly expensive items! I'd like to keep it standard if I can. I would imagine an ordinary type 190amp alternator would get very, very hot and not last long hence the watercooling to keep it around 90 degs, the temp of the engine coolant. It looks like a bit of a pig to remove too. I suspect it will have to come out from below after removing the ARB. Hey ho, I like a challenge!
