i have a 97 c200 with original paint which was covered in swirl marks i washed it twice then i clay bared it then i used a scratch remover then re washed i then applyed 2 coats of autoglym srp then i sealed it with autoglym extra gloss and finaly waxed it with collinite the finished item is unbelievable wish i had pics to show you it was hard work but fantastic results

Autoglym extra gloss gets my vote too. If you polish the substrate well then apply it evenly, its just like water then dries to a powder within an hour depending on heat ambient conditions. It then just wipes off so easily and looks like a finish that you would pay £400 for at a dealers as a paint protection system. Water beads up well in the rain and the car seems to dry off quicker because of the gloss.
Halfords have all Autoglym products and worth doing once a year.

Thanks everybody for your great tips
Autoglym it is so
@ Chubbs111 you said you seal with Autoglym extra gloss and the wax it
I thought the waxing created the seal , can you recommend an Autoglym wax

Might be worth checking out the Detailing section Kevin as there's lots of info and advice on this subject.

Wash...

Polish with Autoglym Silicone Resin Polish (SRP) - this is mildly abrasive, several alternatives incl Meguiars. Polishing is literally an abrasive process, removes defects.

Fill with Autoglym Ultra Deep Shine (UDS) - fills and masks minor scratches, "Recommended for new or moderately deteriorated paintwork and gives superb results on dark colours", it works well (mine's almost black).

Wax - carnauba. Goes on, cures, buffs up to high sheen, sets hard protective coat e.g. Autoglym High Definition Wax, there are probably a few better ones but this is readily available.

The polishing stage is probably most important but the how and what-with depends on the blemishes and depth of paint left, you should not do this every time you wash the car, or you soon won't have any paint. Do see detailing section.

autoglym wax is very good but in my opinion its expensive i use collinite and its half the price goes on easy comes off easy and leaves an excellent finish

i have applied about 3 layers of wax to my car and when i wash it now i only dry it with a micro fibre cloth and it looks like ive just polished it

wax

i use swissvax wax on my car the best product ive ever used
