New Title: GTG - Clumber Park - Sat 02 October

From having a quick browse around the forum it looks like we have a few ideas on the boil for GTGs at the moment.

i) Williams - not much happening at the moment
ii) Bruntingthorpe - not much happening at the moment
iii) PAP - no dates yet and potentially costly for some

I am really keen on the Bruntingthorpe track day personally, as we can stand around for a chat and flog the hell out of the cars too. Might even be able to lunch/dinner somewhere afterwards.

Have noticed that http://www.easytrack.co.uk do regular events at Bruntingthorpe for £99 which look great as you can also see the 200mph supercars in action at the same time.

Anyway, back to my point. The good weather is slipping and it's been ages since I have seen anyone and I am having withdrawal symptoms.

Anyone fancy a simple GTG somewhere in the countryside? I am sure that we could put our heads together and come up with a reasonable location for all to attend in a nice setting where a BBQ can be brought along to char some goodies for consumption!

Fancy a catch up before the weather goes south?

If its in the next few weeks - then I'm up for it ... a nice central location would be good ;)

Is that central England, or central UK - if UK, I agree - that would put it, oh I dunno, around about Manchester? ;) :D

[Awaits to be corrected on my appalling lack of geographical knowledge]

Sure, I am up for this. I have the bug again since having decided me and my car are sticking together.

There must be loads of places we could go....

Depends how big we are going to be.

If we going to have only a moderate size GTG, not necessarilly the biggest ever, we could just take a chance on a little used car park at a beauty spot or something - or though this time of year we would have to pick carefully. Any ideas?

Every Sunday at about 4pm I see a convoy of Mx'd Jap motors streaming down the M40 coming off at Junction 9, but they are probably all on the way to McDonalds.

I know that one of the BMW forums had a GTG at one of the lakes in Milton Keynes - again probably lots of general parking - it might not have been official.

One other chance perhaps is the Bowley Showground, Horspath, Oxford that the Car Audi Drect forum uses for it's ICE meetings. Hard surface car park for say 30 cars and enough flat grass for hundreds of cars. Not sure on how I would check avilability or costs but I could contact an Admin at Caraudiodirect if you guys want....in fact I did propose another of Car Audio Direct's venues a while back, take a look at the pics in this thread to give an idea:

However, this IF possible will require organisation, we will are bound to be restricted to dates and the sun is fast dissapearing as Scott says.

All in all I am in favour or a more unofficial meeting a somewhere with a big car park!

@Flyer ... I'd be happy to come up as far as Manchester if we have any Scottish attendees interested ... otherwise somewhere between Oxford & Manchester is probably about right !!

Graham - I think somewhere that would not require too much organisation might be preferable, if we want to arrange this in a hurry - but no harm in checking with the site above.

Wow! Nice one guys - didn't expect an 8am rush on responses!!!! Looks like we might pull this off.

Personally i cant do the next two weekends, but the weekend after is coool...

Up to around 10-15 cars, we could use my driveway at home in Nuneaton, but not the most scenic of places, unless ure into different coloured roses...

Cheers

Jay

I know its not central but Brabus Kent once said they would host a GTG.................

I'd be up for it depending on dates. I've no desire to take my car on a track though!

Now that would be good. Could they leave the odd engine about for some club testing. I am keen to come providing it isnt too far north, as from Portsmouth you can only go north.

Likewise Bournemouth is a north only type trip but would be interested depending on date.

Am I still allowed to come if I have part ex'ed the CLK by then??

I am busy this weekend and next (17th and 18th) but free afterwards too.

I almost hinted to you Jay after seeing the lawn in your pictures!!

Also willing to travel North a little and favour the easyily organised options - like someones garden!

Sym: only playing ;)

How about a race circuit? I'm at Donington this weekend for the SeeRed Ferrari meeting and at Oulton next weekend for the TVR Tuscans. The weekend after (25/26) at Donington is the BTCC touring cars - mix some fantastic racing with your MB mates :D

Its possible at mine, on the driveway will get 10-15, on the grass can get a lot more, but if it rains, or has rained in the days before, the place will be a swamp (high water table), so no cars on the grass.... So if theres just a few of us.. No problem, otherwise could be dodgy...

What about revisiting the GTG location in the Cotswolds Maff organised in the very early days?

I didn't attend but believe it was a hit and a just turn up in a big open car park jobbie?

Scenery and availability of pubs doesn't come much better!

Someone will have some pics to refresh peoples memories I'm sure - it's where the original panaormaic line up shot was taken.

Nice pic!

I'm getting pretty good on the video editing now, so will be happy to produce a souvenir DVD. I must admit though, I am a bit hopeless at the distribution afterwards.

:-)

Count me in, Any place, Any time, Anywhere.

Have car........will travel, Dont care :D

I think it would be great to do the Bruntingthorpe track day, nothing seems to be happening though.

I am pretty well booked up solid until the second half of October but if I am available I will come to a GTG, living centrally i am able to make it to just about anywhere.

I quite fancy a track day too, but a general informal meet is also fine - as long as there is a pub/shelter nearby .. just in case the wet stuff appears. my diary is clear for the next few weekends (but not this weekend as I'm playing out in a black Ferrari 355 GTS)
