Hi,

I've been reading the thread regarding timing chains on the C230 K four-pot and wondered if there were the same sorts of issues on the V6 unit?

What are the weak points or common issues on the 2.4 I should look out for (mine's done 114K)

Well, I'm about 35K ahead of you (147K) and all I've had to replace engine wise was the MAS (back at 98K).

Other than that, its been good as gold. Plugs every 50K.

From what I have read, harmonic balancers are also a weak point. The rubber coupling that holds the balancer shafts in sync with the rest of the engine can fail catastrophically causing the balancer to rotate independently and cause a fair amount damage. A forum search should yield more posts with further info.

Other than that and a habbit for using engine oil the 2.4 V6's have a reputation of being fairly robust, or so I've been told by a couple of indie MB mechanics.
