That's interesting.

The GPS on my phone is permanently disabled anyway but that's quite a disturbing development.

Is this not a bit of a "non story"? Surely the very point when geo-tagging a photograph is to give the location at which the photograph was taken?

I am unsure why people then find that this is surprising when it happens?

The co-ordinates from the GPS will give a location to within a few metres, if I load Google Maps in satellite mode with GPS enabled on my 'phone I can see the point on the map move as I walk around the cottage.

It is a non-story if you appreciate what's in the EXIF data of the average digital photo, but most people in my experience don't. Online anonymity is actually quite difficult to achieve in that one single bit of leaked info can be the seed that allows lots of other id data to be found and linked.

Now where did I leave that tinfoil hat?

the topic was covered on the other side, people uploading pics on trader of high value cars for sale, unknowingly providing there home address at the same time, same on FB...easy to remedy but ppl should be aware:thumb:
