Weird wire near SAM in trunk - W212

Good evening all,

I just had a look in my boot to see if there's any water ingress where the SAM module is located, on the right hand side, and I've found a wire which has been cut or taken out of a plug by previous owner.

Does anyone know what this wire is or where is it from? Looks like it goes up, it's an orange wire.

Doesn't look factory. I'd insulate the end of it and not worry !

Maybe it had a tracker unit fitted in the past which was subsequently removed?

Yes Richard, probably that's the best approach but was thinking if I can fully remove it though. Exactly this is what I was thinking Flyinspan er, had a tracker fitted. Not sure why would be in the boot but ... who knows.

I fitted a detachable tow bar to my w212 e class and it had to be wired through the rear sam, so it maybe that.

It could be or perhaps might have been a tracker
