Hi this is a strange one. I have just bought a e300 1998 and everything is ok but after I have started off when I put the brakes on it feels like I have got a big bowling ball in the boot. The car feels like I have been tapped very lightly from behind by another car only happens every now and again. could it have something to do woth the prop shaft? just a wild guess. Thanks Mike

Can you hear muffled cries for help? :D

It will either be a harsh gear down change or the subframe bushes need doing at the rear.

Yes but they are coming from the drivers seat. haha

Yes I think it could be the bushes I will have them checked out don't think it could be a gear down change as it is as soon as I put the brakes on so not really time for a change. just as if there is a very heavy ball in the boot. will be going to my friends to get the glow plugs done as the light is remaining on the dash after starting. I can point him in the right direction now. Thanks for the help :thumb:

Rear subframe bushes as Ollie says. Its usually the ones at the front that go first. Pray its the bushes and not the chassis mounting points that have gone.

Not a routine DIY I,m afraid. Ideally you need good access to the car underside and there can be a lot of brute force involved if things are seized /rusted solid. Best left to the PROS imho!
