• Ever wanted to tell someone just what you think of their driving? Or that bumper sticker? A new start-up aims to allow you to connect with other drivers, by using their licence plates "like an e-mail address that can be used to contact the owner". At the moment the system is a little clunky - involving dialling into a service and inputting the plate manually. But bump.com is working on smartphone apps that will do it all automatically soon, says Tom Simonite at MIT Tech Review:
"When using it you simply snap a photo of a license plate after which it is processed in the cloud to direct your message appropriately."

I vaguely remember that Switzerland have something similar where you are issued your own personal number plate for life and it is possible to buy a book that give all the names and addresses for these numbers. I think Clarkson was quite keen on this as he could then look up and see where all the hot women lived.....

Once again making the criminals task easier. Oh, I like that car, wonder where it's parked every night? You'd have to be a mug to sign up to this 'service'. Yet another not so smart idea for a business start up.

I might come under fire for this but

1. why would anyone want to send a message to the other person anyway?
2. Are people prepared for the abusive e-mails they may receive when someone isn't happy with their driving? It seems to operate on the 'I am a good driver principle'.
3. Could be the new dating site as per Clarkson

Perhaps if you text the number of the 'Popemobile' , you'll get a blessing by return :D
