Well-meaning Benz driver accidentally finds the most evil forum ever...

It was always going to end in tiers....:D

Just two quick things...

EnglishDas... I'm shocked you betrayed this forum and even THOUGHT of joining another forum! :p

Secondly, I MUST stand up for Army cooks... Being Italian, we had 3 course meals served up with wine every day... no gripes there! When I worked as a consultant in the UK, the officers hall had some pretty reasonable food too, so again, no gripes there... That said, our electrician just happens to also be a TA chef... and I feel sorry for anyone who eats his food :p

No wine in an British Army cookhouse, maybe in the "Orifices Mess" but then they never had to work anyway, didn't matter if they were a little "oiled" after lunch.:D
In the Ordinary Ranks cookhouse it was definitely quantity over quality although they did mess up sometimes and give us some good food too:D:D

No wine in the UK Officer's mess either... that was something that my colleagues were always shocked by when they came to Italy ;)

To borrow a skiing metaphor- choose to ski "off piste" then be prepared for avalanches from piste-off people.

Loved the £10k comment.... Yea I can afford £10k for a cake so am paying £143.75..... laughed so hard it hurts.

Yea I can afford a Ferrari so I bought a Hyundai Coupe... looks similar on a dark night from a long distance. But do I care - I will have gone on my honeymoon before your notice it's sh!te.... :D:D:D

I think it is a different version of 'afford', I could afford all sorts of stuff if I was prepared to make some sacrifices. I could even afford a Hyundai Coupe.

I think their argument for a cheap wedding cake is flawed though, a nice bit of cake to post to the old dears is important , a tottering pile of sponge is less appealing to me.

I guess it depends on why you want the Ferrari. I can understand the shallowness of having something dramatic as a prop for a 'special' day.

I thought the general response on that thread wasn't actually aggressive, more a case of fearful acceptance of a loudmouth because the onlookers didn't fancy being picked on. Cowards, not cronies.

Anyway the englishdas post was persuasive, it was worth the foray IMO.

True enough - though I've not been on here long enough to detrmine who the "Croc" is on here ;)

There was a guy on the other side who always went in all guns blazing, even in threads that were nothing to do with him.................

right up until the time he got deservedly banned

This reminds me of the first time I posted on another forum run by a visa processing company. I merely pointed out that that in certain circumstances, things could be done in a slightly different way, thereby saving money. I got inundated with flames questioning why I was not buying in the complete package of services from the company and inferring that I was "completely wrong". I held my ground and gave as good as I got. I then posted a "how to save money" response later on to demonstrate the practicalities. It bothers me not in the slightest. Some people live for trolling and flaming. They should get out a bit more.
PS I am sorry the cake thread was closed. We should all have registered and had a go. (He says completely hypocritically!)

That'll be why the Italians can never win a war; too busy stuffing their faces with delightful food & wine! :p

War? Oh yeah, that stuff that you do when you look for a proper takeaway :p Got the British empire all the way to India before they found a good curry ;)

But at least the British got it right, good ol' Chris Columbus found America and made a very big mistake. Hence I think Americans dont like curry

So Englishdash,

Your some kind of baker?
