He'll not get any takers. The English is terrible, which to me can sometimes indicate a scam, and the focus on the entertainment systems seems a bit weird on a car he is asking £16k for.

No service history mentioned in the ad either.

T Maybe he is from another country

Why would he be from another country? The bad English that he writes is exactly as that of so many British born, British educated individuals who cannot spell or otherwise use their own mother tongue.

There is no misuse of the article as you would see with Russians and Slavonic language users, no Gallicisms so typical of French/Italian/Spanish natives, no Germanisms/Dutchisms as you would get from a Belgian, Dutchman or German, ...

On the other hand, it bears exactly the same hallmarks as of the Englishman in my employment, with a family history going back to the 11th century at least and with a prestigious Masters degree in his possession who I had to tell the other day that he needs to learn the difference between the possessive "of" and the conjugated forms of the auxiliary verb "to have", even in its contracted form.

This car has been on for sale for SOOO long...

Doesn't everybody's family go back to the 11th Century & beyond?

Sorry, Guido - I can't resist:

... in his possession who I had to tell...
That should be "in his possession, whom I had to tell"... ;)

(Please don't take that the wrong way. :) You make a very good point about our collective ignorance of and carelessness with our own language, and I share your frustration. Your English is infinitely better than my ability in any of Belgium's collection of languages... :o)

:D :D :D

You got me there! I was implying that his roots were demonstrably British for many centuries, as opposed to foreigners like myself who have only been here for a few years and for whom English is a foreign language ;).

the spelling is bad but it is not a scam, i have worked on that car
the stereo is impressive but not to my taste

This would explain why the ad says he bought the car in February and he's had it 7 months ??

If he sells, I hope for his sake that he invests the money wisely in a few English lesons!

Sorry couldn't resist :)

he has reasonable feedback.... doesn't that suggest he is pucker ?

Thanks for that - seems he took COMAND out to replace it with the Pioneer unit, how bizarre.

I also can't see an MB dealer paying £15650 then retailing for a grand or so more.

I do like the interior view of the panoramic roof though - current C Class is the first car I've had for many years that hasn't had a sunroof.

maybee thie different languaagges in the naviiigattion sysstem waz konfuzing himm to much
