I am in need of a Westfalia detachable tow hitch for a W210 E class estate please.

Someone has borrowed mine (don't ask)

Cash waiting

Thanks

I think the phrase "sod's law" applies here

I was left with mine after I changed my car and it sat on a garage shelf for months.

Simply to clear it, I put it on ebay and got the magnificent sum of £10.

What a bl**dy shame for us both :(

You can order them, I needed one after this happened:

towbar.jpg

I stopped at a roundabout but the HGV behind me didn't, ploughing into my caravan so hard that the tow hitch bent back into the bumper (and the rear body distorted) :(

Didn't do the caravan much good either ...

Mine was less than that fitted to my ML same make removable with twin electrics.

I think e-bay is your answer assuming they fit each other?

John that is the story of my life, I was the bloke in the 80's VW advert at the casino...but without the golf... and the gorgeous Dolly... well I nearly had a Dolly once (Citroen).

Thanks everyone.... £392 is to expensive for me.

That was some bend in the bar, BTB, hate to see the state of the HGV!

I found a Bosal Oris one is virtually identical apart from the neck which has a 1mm shoulder though sp won't go in, everything else seems the same! Suggestions please as I have a Bosal Oris with keys...Chocolate tea pot syndrome I fear.

Flea bay it is unless someone else has one sat in their garage or shed, please havav root round as guess what off to France in August and yes you guessed driving over but not sure if we will be in tow!!

The more I think about this the more it grates.

It was just sat there

ANyone else have a Westafllia tow hitch gathering dust, cash waiting...please as my other half has booked the ferry to France for August.

^ Are you sure they are interchangeable between cars?

Another option would be to Hire one off a forum member if possible until you find one.

Just postage each way?

Many ML's have them and people probably don't even know as the electrics are hidden and the tow bar is hidden padded in the side compartment.

I'm fairly sure the one you show is an Oris not a Westfalia, I've got one spare too. Could anybody put up a picture of their Westfalia hitch so we can all check?

The one in the picture is a Westfalia one.

Now I've had another look your right they both are,

Your picture and the one in my link HOWEVER...

The curve is completely different so I guess it must be the one to match the car to arch round the bumper?

Assuming only the swan neck is bent. What about getting the one you have un-bent, doubt it would have suffered any cracking and is a steel forging, so a good mechanic and a BIG torch should be able to make a fair job of it, only the ball and peg is usually induction hardened, so as long as he keeps away from that you should be okay.
Would this be considered a modification? For the insurance declaration!

Just my 2d.

I'm pretty sure they do different shapes as the attachment point for the towing bracket can't be at the same height from the ground on all vehicles, but the towball is meant to be.

Yes nick Ithink it is a Westfallia could you provide the markings off it please.

I have an Bosal Oris detachable hitch (with keys) the keys were bought from Bosal Oris in Germany (can't get keys in UK) keys were delivered this month...don't ask, long story).
Bosal Oris is identical to Westfallia apart from the keylock and the male section of the hitch has a shoulder on it. From your picture nick the one one shown does not appear to have a shoulder so could be what I am looking for currently, is it for sale and where abouts are you please.
