Hi all,

A few days ago I noticed a lot of water in the passenger side front footwell of my W208.

Reading on here, I had a look at the front of the car near the Aircon box and unblocked the rubber hose (there was some mud in there from tornado in Brum recently) The dealership didnt bother cleaning it properly of debris in fact they added some dirty paw prints on the interior ..

Any way.. I Dismantled the inner trim and cut out the dripping wet Sound deading foam - its currently on the washing line being dryed..

I closed the doors, then got a Hose and held it against the door surround ( passenger side) and the windscreen area, checked inside and the footwell was wet again..

Placed some dry newspapers and did the test again.. water seemed to be getting in from the passenger door area.. The trim was also slightly wet (where the hinges etc are) The rubber seals are all fine with no tears etc.

Now - Admittedly I did hold the waterhose and moved it very slowly around the door frame... simulating a monsoon (with all windows and doors closed!)

Am I being too optimistic that water shouldnt be able to get into a Mercedes (with a hose) after the doors are shut?

Ideas? Anyone willing to do a test on their Merc?.. Theres no Hoseban in Brum btw! :)

Should have said earlier mate,Only finished drying off my car an hour ago I could have helped:p

Tell me about it..

Pressure washed dirt off..
Car Detergent cleaned..
Claybar'd
Washed again
Chamoised dry..
Polished
Glossed
.. Then noticed the water inside!.. Aaargh! So after the tests I needed to dry off and gloss again.

Did some more tests today and ill just have to hope no monsoons occur in the midlands. I Dryed and reassembled securing trim with some adhesive after waxoyling where I could.

Fingers crossed.. Its scary that my Jap FTO was better build quality than the CLK.

the car before my clk was a FTO i only sold it 6 months ago , i loved that car but it was a bit under powered

Wet footwells sometimes mean a leaking heater matrix. Except when it is the drain hose.

also check carefully around the windscreen edges - if the screen has been replaced sometimes they don't bond it together too well and leave small gaps - water always finds its way in...

Yup wet footwell in my Sharan earlier this year turned out to be a windscreen leak - very hard to trace.

have you got a sunroof? could be a blocked drain hose??
