So need 4 new tyres. Will go with either PS4 or Conti Sport Contact 5.

Both are obviously very good tyres. It rains a lot in Scotland so would be good to hear any opinions on which is best in the rain.

Cheers

Nick

Goodyear eagle f1 as3. Best in the wet.

all three are good in the wet, I have PS3 on the front and F1 on the rear

Wet performance uniroyal rain sports are very good. Harder compound compared to pilot sports and contis but also wear slower

Goodyear F1s are probably much quieter than the Continentals also (they certainly are compared to the Sport Contact 3s).

I would 2nd the Goodyear AS3s. Have these on my 535d and they are superb. I'm in Glasgow if you want a spin. (Pardon the pun)

Best tyre on the wet I've had on my E55k was Uniroyal rainsport 3s. The car is at 550 with a pulley remap and they performed great.

Only gripe is they wear really quick, have a soft sidewall and dry weather performance was okay. I'm running MPSS at the moment, they are fabulous in the dry but not as good as the rainsports in the wet.

Rainsports are great but they have an ugly sidewall

The Dunlop Sports on the XFR had unbelievable grip in the wet, slightly noisy in the dry (but they were 20" wheels).

I was always a big fan of Conti Sports but the Dunlops are the future.

I liked the sidewall design especially the little shark symbols. It was the softness I had the issue with.

It would appear to show that modern tyres are all pretty good, there is just under 4% difference in performance scores between 1st and 9th place.
(But almost 30% difference in price).

I imagine the vast majority of us will not drive our cars quite so vigorously on a daily basis, but it would be interesting to see similar comparisons once the tyres are 25%, then 50% then 75% worn as many may have quite different characteristics as they wear.
I wonder if there w oiled be any suprises?
