Got my car back from paint today and now I can't get in boot.

Boot lock where key goes seems seized up and won't open on the key. I assume body shop didnt put electrics back on or air pipe? I am locked out of boot. Any ideas? Any ideas to get it? Thanks.

You won't get through via the back seat.

Lube and work the boot lock until it turns.

Ring them and make an appointment to take it in and fix it.

Lube it is :0(
Thanks guys.

put the key in the lock then push in and then turn key to unlock.
maybe it was the other way, turn the key then push in?
this is a technique to unlock that frikkin' boot, I always fogget how to do this procedure

Turn first, then push in.

Seized boot locks are a common problem due to lack of use.

Lots of lube then. Will use the little straw thing to get it right in.
Will keep you posted. :0)

Managed to get key all the way in using some
Oil. I can hear all the gates clicking as key goes in.
HOWEVER the barrel won't turn now.
Does the barrel also seize?
Do you unlock before you depress the boot button or
Press the boot button in then unlock?
Unlock anticlockwise ?
Sorry for the questions.

I appreciate your help.

I expect the lock has seized up. Common issue. Most of the time its a new one that is needed.

I wouldn't mind that but I can't get in boot
:0/

I am actually contemplating cutting the boot bulkhead open!

The key must fully enter the lock barrel before it can be turned, make a comparison with the door lock if you aren’t sure… hopefully it is not seized as well.

To unlock boot, if lock no longer seized,
Insert key fully into lock.
Turn key anti-clockwise to about 10 o’clock.
With the key at 10 o’clock, push key inwards.

What car do you have?

Have seen it recommended to lube lock well insert key and press key with something like an orbital sander .The vibration is supposed to help free up the parts of the barrel .Good luck.

If you need to break into it. Give me a call. You will need a new lock after. I'm not going to put on a public forum how to do it.

It's a W210 E55 AMG. 1998.

Will have another go today.

Drop me a PM Mr black. ;0)

Am running out of options. :0/

Thanks very much for your help.

Keep trying took me a whole week on and off before I got the lock to work !!!

I need a boot lock if anybody has one. He he he.

Mine is well and truly past it.

Managed to get boot open.

The electrics on the lock isn't working. The air
Pump thingy doesn't seem to be working either.

How did you get in, by force or by key?
