I believe your tyres would be: 205/55 R16.

Plenty of good choice out there, included 'premium' tyres e.g. Michelin, Continental, etc.

Cheap Tyres Discount Tyres Buy Tyres Online & Japanese Import Car Parts Spares Tuning Performance Servicing Accessories are generally cheap, but they don't work with local fitting centres so you'll need to find a fitter.

See also this list:

These are MO tyres (Mercedes original, it is debatable whether it makes any difference, but either way as you can say the MO tyres are quite inexpensive (in this size) so I decided to opt for them anyway).

Said that, in my case I went to my local tyre fitter with an on-line quote and he was happy to match it.

If it's your main driver and the wife and kids are in it regular then stick with the premium brands you can't compromise on tyres and brakes.

My person choice is Continental good all round performer in the wet and dry :thumb:

If you are looking for premium tyres, then for comfort:

Continental PremiumContact 2 205/55 R16 91V M0 Mfr P/N 0350222
(this is what I have)

or

Continental PremiumContact 2 205/55 R16 91W M0 Mfr P/N 0350223
(higher speed rating)

Continental have different model ranges if your priority is is performance (SportContact) or economy (EcoContact).

And of course, there are also 'Winter Tyres', for those who are that way inclined....

My S211 E220 estate came with Michelin Premacys from new. The rears lasted for 31,000 miles and the fronts for 48k. The car has now done 62,000 and there is plenty of tread left, front and rear. Car rides and handles well. With that mileage I wouldn't buy anything else.

Goodyear eagle f1 Assymetrical 2 - hands down better than any other premium tyre

2nd for me would be Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta really nice handling tyre but fast wearing

Oooohhhhh!

Gona have to disagree with ya there Sav! :p

Michelin Supersports all day long!

However they tend to cater mostly for performance cars running 19" wheels or larger so if ya running on Castors then your choice runs level pegging with Michelin PS3 IMHO.

:D

Either Continental Sport Contacts or Khumo.

Those big heavy 19's and above, great for driving slowly past a shop window :-)

Try a pair of Super sports vs F1's in the wet then you will know what grip really is, I will give it to you that in the dry there is little that can touch the MSS.

For street driving in all conditions F1's simply rule

If you were to visit a track to compare the PS3 v the F1 I'm not to sure you'd purchase the PS3, that said the PS3 would allow you to powerslide with more ease and show less wear at the end of the day, but they are a little unpredictable compared. .

Perhaps, like me, the OP does not take his car to track days, and prefers comfort, economy, high-mileage, and low-noise, to lateral G?

I have no issue with sporty tyres, but we need to accept this it is good for some, while others may have other preferences?
