Just wondering if any MBClub members could help me out. I'm going to view a 2002 C220 CDI this evening. What are the common faults or problems that occur with this MB?

If it's similar to my 2001 C270CDI, listen for clunks or knocking from the front suspension - could be just the centre bushings on the front anti-roll bar, more likely the big rubber bushes and rose joints to do with the lower arm. I replaced the lot, made a major difference to ride quality and quietness.

leaking from pilot bushing on transmission housing.broken rear springs, droplinks knocking, make sure the turbo kicks in at roughly 1200-1500rpm and pulls smoothly no excess smoke from exhaust or a rattly noise could mean broken cats, excessive corrosion on wheels, and just general wear and tear items check all the spare wheel and kit that all electrics work and lights i.e indicator strips arent full of water.e.t.c just common sense.

gearbox...give it a good old play with the tiptronic and make sure it dnt get stuck in 2nd
