W205 C200 Sport petrol (67)
Hi all. Just bought a 2015 C200 petrol SE with Executive package (not sure what the W... would be for it?). I am new to the performance world and was wondering what tuning can be done with it?

W205 if Saloon

S205 if Estate

OMG if AMG

;)

Your C200 car has a 1991cc litre turbocharged engine with 184 PS 300 Nm torque . There is a higher powered version of that engine in the C250 with 211 PS and 350Nm torque. Should be a relatively simple job to uprate it-- different map to increase fuelling and boost. Where it becomes expensive is if new hardware is required- bigger turbo, and or larger intercooler and perhaps larger injectors. Don't know the precise answer to that one but pretty sure the basic mechanical components will be the same pistons//block/ crank etc. Have a look at Mercedes tuner sites like Brabus to see what they offer to get an idea.

Can be mapped to 240PS no problem.

Thank you guys.

Mark it's a W205. :)

Grober, thank you for the links. Pardon my ignorance in this matter but do I buy that from Brabus and install it myself or does it require an indie garage to do it? I assume such re-mapping would increase fuel consumption? Does it affect insurance premiums, etc?

Also can anyone tell me what the main tuning companies are please so that I know who's trustworthy.

You'll have to declare it as a performance modification and so it'll likely put your premium up. So check first, otherwise it could cost you twice.

The remap itself won't worsen the fuel consumption, and if you drove it exactly the same and currently never use maximum throttle, then economy should increase, however if you're remapping it for more power, you'll obviously be using that power, and so yes producing 240ps will use more fuel than 184ps.

There are a few companies that won't quote for modified cars, so it will reduce your choice of insurers slightly.

BTB 500, slightly off topic but I have noticed that you have COMAND on your C230. Did it originally come with it or is it something that can be added later?

Pretty much plug and play. Used to be BRABUS upgrades were MB approved i.e. they did not invalidate your warranty if fitted by MB. Other tuners products are a lot cheaper but variable in quality. If Mercedes find they have been fitted they will invalidate your warranty- at least on your engine if it should go wrong. Fuel consumption will increase if you use the extra power.

True. - The Nissan is a real problem; it's modified and an import... and now also qualifies as a classic car.

None of the mainstream insurers will touch it.

Ours came with it, but it can definitely be added later. If you get a secondhand unit (eBay etc) there are various people who will do the fitting e.g.

I just noticed when using comparison websites that a fair few companies decline to quote if you have any mods. declared. But obviously there are others that specialise in modified (and imported) cars.
