Hello

All my 2001 e-class electric windows are working intermittently. You to keep trying the rocker switch to make them close - applies to all so not a motor thing. Could be something to do with the facility whereby one touch of the switch closes the window automatically ?

I wondered if their is an electric window ECU on my car that is playing up ?

ps - my battery was disconnected over-night last week - could it be a re-set needed for the windows ? - if so , how ??

thanks

To reset the one touch function, put each window down then up and hold the switch for about 5 seconds at the top.

each window is separate:
during the learning process, the control module monitors the motor current. By holding the window button on the first stage (manual, not 'one-touch' operation) you are forcing the motor to carry on and jam after the window has reached the upper limit. This causes a current rise which teaches the module where the top is.
Thereafter, in normal operation, the module counts motor revolutions to work out where the upper and lower limits are - this is how the one-touch system gets its memory.
When you hold the window shut on the manual button during the learning process, you can actually hear a noise (a sigh!) after a couple of seconds as the module 'gives up' and cuts the current to the motor.

That's assuming you problem is loss of memory when the battery was off - you post makes it sound like the switches aren't working properly?

Could be that the glass channels need cleaning.
Mine seem sticky at the moment.
I am going to clive them a good clean when the weather is dry
