Ah, hand signals. On my HGV 3 test, there were flash floods in Guildford and a Bobby was controlling a flooded junction where the lights had failed. I was going straight over and gave the policeman the appropriate signal with my forearm. Thinking I was just being friendly, he just waved back! The examiner joked that I had earned a bonus point and I did pass, so I wasn't too miffed.

Vauxhall Viva HB

My dads Cortina 2000E, failed first time in the driving school car, a Vauxhall I think. My first car was a Ford Anglia reg 902 MPH ... I wish!

I passed my test first time in a 1937, 8hp Standard Tourer!
It had a hood with plastic side screens, wooden floorboards & brass bolts to hold the doors shut.
You had to do hand signals in those days, but the examiner had no idea what i was signaling when I stuck my hand out of the side screen!
Used to have to stop after 40 miles to let it cool down.

'83 Vauxhall Nova 1.2L

Lancia Beta 1400, my dad's in 1975, what made him buy it in that colour:crazy:

Ford Escort MkII 950. I could have walked the test and finished it sooner.

Mazda 323 (BF) Sedan with non-working handbrake. So I had to learn heel and toe balancing very well. Guess what? Maybe fate was preparing me for the fact that my first and second/current car would be a manual gearbox Mercedes with no normal handbrake :)
