So we all have an idea what each other drives, and we know our gearbox preferences, but I am interested to know what pays the bills for everyone.

Just a guess but most of the users seem to fall either into Automotive or IT?? Am I wrong???

I work for a Telco. I come form an IP background, working as the technical manager for an ISP for a couple of years before moving to my existing employer as an e-security consultant. More recently I have moved into P&D specialising in Mobile Data.

I know not everyone will want to talk about work, but think it could be an interesting discussion?

IT bod.

Re-packaging applications and integration. 3rd Line Support stuff.

Not very well paid, all monetry donations accepted.

Boring IT person personally - Technical Consultant for a big IT Services Provider (some think it's my company, since 'Ed's' is pretty close to it's name!!)

Can't complain too much about the wages in IT, but since I'm not driving a new SL500 yet, there's definately room for improvement!
:bannana: :bannana: :bannana:

Another IT Support person here too! 2nd Line support. 2 years since I left Uni.

Well I had to be diffrent. I work for at London Victoria & London Brge Stn.

Myself and 6 others work 24/7 (only one on duty at a time at either stn) and we manage all the train crews (drivers / conductors) which is about 130 staff.

We also take responsibility for other crews from other depots who work in and out of the station.

I was a T/Driver prior to doing this job so I have been at the sharp end, driving all sorts of diesel loco and electric trains.

Well you did ask :p .

I'm in IT too!

Datacomms Engineer / Instructor

Do lots of Ericsson/Foundry/Cisco router type thingys !
oh .... And a bit of 802.11b wireless

I work for an ISP doing tech support.

Worked in IT for many years for one of the high street banks. Took (very) early retirement/redundancy a few months ago and am wondering what to do to fill the time/earn a few extra bob. It won't be in IT. I've had enough of that!

Chartered Engineer, ex Engineering Director of Railway Freight Company before Privatisation, sold to Americans. Worked for them as Chief Engineer then took the money and run.
Now doing Charity work.

Own two ISP's in both the UK and Hungary mainly providing dedicated servers and co-location stuff amongst other things.

Also worked in web design for a bit as a contractor before the above started.

Plus work as a senior engineer for unified messaging applications for Nortel Networks.

I run an IT Systems company, for someone else unfortunately!

Basically I'm a Network/Systems Engineer by background who moved into managemnt but I do like to stay hands-on.

Its definitely a bit slow at the moment though.

Cheers,

Phil

Currently 'in between' jobs......

You know when your boss calls you in and says, ' look we're restructuring and......'

Anyway things are looking up, couple of second interviews soon.

At least the Merc is paid for!:bannana: :bannana:

P.S. Sorry to sound depressing!

Don't worry, more people I know than ever have been made redundant. My building's atmosphere freezes over when extra HR staff turn up. Jobs cuts are the new way to provide a better service.

Hope all goes well.

Am I the only manual worker here then ? :p

I work as a Production Operator, In a factory working a 3 shift/24 hour cycle making Copper Tubes mainly for the Plumbing Industry.

I've worked there 7 years since I was 18 now 25, so it can't be that bad ;) , It's easy but boring and i can't really complain about the money and the main thing is we have a good constant laugh :D And I have the Weekend off !! :D
