What do you think of this ECU for Diesel?

Bargepole. If you want more performance, get your car on a rolling road and have the ECU mapped specifically for your engine.

That tuning box will probably work as well as any but they are all limited due to not being specifically tailored.
Generally they produce more smoke under accelleration and there is a risk of pistons overheating and clogged catalytic converters.
Oh, and of course your engine warranty is void.

It claims about 20% increase in perdormance. What do you guys think? Is it worth it?

Looks like a copy of the Kleeman K-Box. Is it based on dumping more fuel by sending a fake air-sensor signal to the ECU. I suspect it is a MAS/MAF interceptor.

So whatever it costs multiply that by 10 for fuel wasted.

do you have anything specific in mind for the ECU on the 270 CDI?

I suggest you do a search around the 2 Mercedes forums in the UK for tuning companies that can help you.

There are some good ones, and some bad ones - however I can't advise you further having no direct experience. I believe the good outfits put the car on a rolling road to measure the car's output, and then reprogramme the ECU and any other sensors to get the best from your engine. The idea being that engines from the factory are basically programmed for 'worst case fuel scenario'. Once done, the car goes back on the rolling road and you should see a significant improvement in power output. People also say that mpg is improved, although not with your foot on the floor :)

What all this does for your exhaust I'm not sure, but there are many tales on the internet of people who have done this work and are very pleased with the results.
