Really? Fitting hid to a w211 is very easy. Get yourself onto hid-direct.co.uk and buy the 35w canbus pro kit. You can fit them yourself, i have fitted these to cls's with no errors

There are rumours that there are impending changes to the MoT regs that will make these an MoT fail unless they are OE.

It's already illegal to sell or fit these things for road use. MoT catches up next year...

ye i herd if they are over 6k then its iligal.... what about the 55w are they not supose to be beter?? il just look around for a detailed guide how to install them...thanks :)

It's not about the colour temp, even 4300k will be illegal...they scatter the light.

HID are 35w.

I need to copy this post

Every few months we get this thread...

From the horses mouth:

In a nutshell - if you fit aftermarket HID kits, you need to change the lens and reflector, as well as fitting lens wipers and self-levelling if not already fitted. If you do not do this, it's illegal (but will pass an mot until the mot rules catch up).

Also worth a read is this web page which explains why from a physics perspective a HID will not match a filament bulb.

Nothing to do with color temperature, just old fashioned physics.

Thank god they are banning hid's on certain cars. I'm totally sick of idiots blinding me with their scattered lights and without the use of proper lenses.
